Our sauna experience
Our Finnish-style sauna experience, nestled within a small woodland space, is designed to support your wellbeing through the simple, restorative ritual of heat and stillness.
Relax in the warmth of the sauna before stepping outside to sit beneath the canopy of trees. For an invigorating contrast, move between the heat of the sauna and the refreshing drench bucket, or rinse under the outdoor copper shower.
At the heart of the experience is löyly, the rising steam created when water meets hot stones, enhanced with organic aromatherapy to deepen its sensory and restorative effects. We also incorporate salt inhalations and gentle whisking, a traditional ritual using birch or oak branches to softly tap, sweep and revitalise the skin.
After your sauna, enjoy refreshments served from our shepherd’s hut and take your time to soak in the views.

Our sauna is designed as an enchanting oasis for rest and relaxation for guests staying at The Grain Store Lewes.
Whether you’re planning on hiking the South Downs Way and come to the sauna to soothe tired muscles, or simply fancy a moment of peaceful pampering, we offer options to suit your schedule and mood. Choose from our regular Sauna & Relax session; the 30-Minute Express sauna; the Early Morning sauna and the Quiet Sunday sauna experiences.
Or book a Private sauna to savour the space just for yourself or with your friends and family for a special treat.

South Downs Sauna Lewes is available for private bookings for groups of friends and family, and provides a unique venue for celebrating birthdays and other special occasions.

Ideally situated off the beaten track, and yet close enough for transport, our location makes exploring further afield really easy.
We are tucked away up a country lane, just off the A27, in the tiny hamlet of St Ann’s Without.
Neither our postcode nor Google Maps do justice to our magnificent rural setting. Once you walk or drive up under the railway bridge, you’re in the heart of the South Downs on the South Downs Way.
